Description

This is one of my all time favorite plants.  I’ve restarted it in every garden I’ve had for the past 3 decades.  I’ve also had access to seed from this plant from my Mom’s garden for all of that time, just in case I lost it.  And I have, and Mom to the rescue. 🙂

There are no bad points to this plant in my opinion.  It smells like licorice when you crush the leaves.  All parts of this plant are edible.  Medicinal?  I haven’t been able to find a lot about it.  Maybe it is just an amazing herb.  The seeds when green taste like licorice All Sorts.  If it is growing in a happy spot, like mine is, it performs.  It’s in loose soil, with compost added in yearly.  I have access to grass fed horse manure, that goes into the compost on a yearly basis as well.

The only downside is that the seed is short lived.  Fresh seed is sown immediately for best results.
