Description
When I first moved to this area in 2015, these could be found in great quantity, all along our ditches and side roads. One area I collect seed from had them in the thousands, for miles and miles. In the last 10 years the county I live in has stepped up their chemical spraying, along with the utility companies who think it’s perfectly ok to mass kill all of these incredible plants.
These are a challenge to get established, and worth it in my opinion. Easy to germinate, but does not like to be disturbed, the first couple of years are crucial.
I am trying to get these going in some spots that will not be sprayed by the county.
Western Wood Lily is the floral emblem of Saskatchewan.
