Description

No matter what you want to call it, no garden should be without a couple of these charming plants.  They bloom from May-June to hard frost, in my area.  After first bloom and following seed collection, I will cut back and I usually get a second flush of blooms.

They seem to be tolerant of many different types of soil, except for wet, poorly drained soil.  Division in spring every 3-4 years is recommended.

This is the dianthus that I found at the old abandoned homestead a couple of years ago.  Still glad I dug it out, it’s one of my favorites in the garden.
